I am honored to be participating in the People’s Choice competition during Spiva in Bloom. You can support my floral design with a monetary donation. The artist who raises the most will receive 50% of the total funds raised, while the remaining 50% directly benefits the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts, supporting scholarships, educational outreach, classes, camps, and community programming. Thank you for your thoughtful support! My artist statement: The air is thick with dust and exhaust, and the ground is dry and cracked beneath your feet. As you pass the fan man’s shop, a steady breeze spills into the street, offering a moment of relief. Inside, the shop is filled to the ceiling with parts, tools, and fans in various stages of repair, yet the fan man moves through the chaos with collected ease. In his hands, it becomes a place of order and expertise—his livelihood and legacy. My arrangement is inspired by this scene, constructed on a disassembled fan in warm tones that mirror the heat, dust, and rust in the image. You linger for just a moment, and step back into the stifling heat.
