The Fundraising Page of Mavis Oberg

I am honored to be participating in the People’s Choice competition during Spiva in Bloom. You can support my floral design with a monetary donation. The artist who raises the most will receive 50% of the total funds raised, while the remaining 50% directly benefits the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts, supporting scholarships, educational outreach, classes, camps, and community programming. Thank you for your thoughtful support! My artist statement: What is space and what is negative space? As we place layer over layer on our composition, we run shape over shape; making fascinating menagerie for those that seek to escape or cryptic code of symbol for those that seek to find meaning. The simple, sparse flowers here stand in front of each other, making a cloud or blot of vacant or confusing growth. As the brackets built like apparati made for field research hold up the specimens, they sit in front of each other like words we don't understand or emotions we can't care to explain to others, obscuring further the hidden world.
